Welcome to the Scottish Rite Valley of Austin. We have lots of opportunities for you to become involved. We are eager to find a place for you to use your talents and abilities. Just like traditional masonic blue lodges, the Scottish Rite Valley is a volunteer organization that is build up by the energy and participation of its members.
The Austin Scottish Rite offers a great opportunity to meet and deepen the friendships with masons outside of your own lodge. There are many different options to become involved in depending on your personal interest.
Reunion Degree Teams
Confers the Scottish Rite degrees and performs all speaking and acting roles on stage during reunions.
“Republic of Texas” Degree Team
Performs blue lodge degrees in traditional Republic of Texas garb. Is available upon request to perform these degrees to lodges in the Austin valley.
Collegium Ecossais
Organized study group to delve deeply into the knowledge of masonic history, philosophy and the Scottish Rite degrees.
Book Club
Discusses books about Scottish Rite degrees, history, philosophy, and more. Enjoy invigorating conversations with fellow masons.
Sanhedrin
Works behind the scenes to set up the stage, wardrobe, sound and lighting for the Reunions and Stated Meetings.
Garde Manger
Responsible for preparing and serving food and refreshments during all Valley events. This includes Reunions and Stated Meetings.
Knights of St Andrews – Thistle
Invitational honors service organization. It supports directly the General Secretary to handle all administrative and operational needs.
Membership Committee
Directs all programs of new member recruitment, retention and reinstatements. Implements member programs.
Communications
Publishes quarterly newsletters, and manages social media channels including the website, Facebook and Instagram, or any others that might be added.
Education
Contributes educational speeches during Stated Meetings, essays for newsletters, and invites masonic speakers.
Festive Boards
The Valley organizes four Festive Boards each year. Help is always appreciated in the preparation and organization of the event.
Ambassadors
Supports the activities of the Scottish Rite by offering a direct link to individual lodges in the Valley of Austin.
Local Scottish Rite Clubs
The four local clubs offer Scottish Rite education and fraternal ties in the more distant parts of the Valley.
VMAP
The intent of the Valley Membership Achievement Project is to help the Austin Valley carry out its service to the Scottish Rite by providing the very best experience for its members.
Funeral Team
The prelate of the Austin Valley is responsible for all sickness and distress. He will also organize a funeral team if it is requested by the family of the Scottish Rite mason. This ceremony is different from a regular masonic funeral.
Grief Support Group
This support group is open to all members of the Austin Valley and their families. It is organized by fellow Scottish Rite masons.
Dyslexia Foundation
Supports programs to help reading-challenged children through teacher training, educational opportunities and therapies for children.
